Experimenting
I tried a new recipe today. Apple Waffles. It got rave reviews, so how could I go wrong? I figured I'd do this at lunchtime and freeze the leftovers for breakfast. Tiffany was at school, so I only had Katie and Emily at home. Katie helped me mix the ingredients. The girls seemed to like the results, but I was waay less than impressed. The outside of the waffles burned a bit. If I cooked for less time, they fell apart. They tasted of baking soda and burned cinnamon. If you could ignore those flavors, they were quite good if a little sweet. After Katie went to school, I tried again, changing some of the ingredients. The girls still liked them. Even Tiffany ate a couple after getting home from school. But I didn't solve the problems I have with them. I'm not sure if I want to continue trying with the applesauce, or just go back to the drawing board and make plain old waffles perfected without the aid of sugar and excessive oil.
